Music Staff

We are very blessed to have a wonderful music staff here at First Presbyterian Church.  Each of our staff musicians bring a warmth and accessibility to their substantial expertise.  Please feel free to e-mail them at any time, or call the church office to speak with them.

Jacob Craig – Director of Music and Arts
Coming to Vero Beach most recently from Memphis, TN, Jacob Craig is proud to be the Director of Music and Arts at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.  Jacob received his Bachelor of Music Education and Piano Performance degree from Shorter University in Rome, GA before moving on to Tallahassee, FL to receive his M.M. in Choral Conducting and Literature under Dr. Andre Thomas at Florida State University.  As Director of Choral Activities at Ridgeway High School in Memphis, TN, Jacob’s choral groups won numerous awards and competitions both at the local and state levels. 
Janine Jones – Director of the Spirit Gang (grades 2-5)
Janine Jones received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Nazareth College in Rochester, New York. She has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. She has had a private flute studio for beginning through advanced students for over 25 years. She completed her Orff-Schulwerk teaching certifications at the Master’s level at Memphis State University. Janine is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Florida Music Educators Association, and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. She has been teaching elementary music at Osceola Magnet School for over 15 years, where she has been named Teacher of the Year. The school has been designated a Florida Music Demonstration School for the past 13 years. Her ensembles have twice been featured at the FMEA professional development conference. She has had numerous students participate in all-state ensembles on flute and voice. Janine is a National Board Certified Teacher.

Virginia-Hill
Virginia Hill – Director of the Cherub Choir (grades pre k – 1)
Ginger Hill is in her tenth year as a music educator. She has eight years of experience as an elementary music specialist in Tampa, Fl and in 2013 moved to Vero Beach to take the Choral director position at Oslo Middle School. Miss Hill has both her Bachelor of Music and Master in Educational Leadership degrees from the University of South Florida, graduating in 2004 & 2010, respectively. She is also an accomplished professional clarinetist, having played with professional wind bands such as the Florida Wind Band, Hollingsworth Winds, Fanfare Winds, and freelancing as a pit orchestra musician for several community theatre companies and local school programs. In 2012, Miss Hill founded and organized the first Alumni Band and Music Alumni Weekend at USF, which has become a yearly tradition. She is a member of the National Association for Music Educators, Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Vocal Association, American Federation of Teachers, Indian River County Education Association, and Sigma Alpha Iota women’s music fraternity. 
John Toohey – Resident Soloist
John Toohey blew into Vero Beach in 1979 with Hurricane David after graduating from the University of Maryland, and has been involved in over 25 main stage productions as singer, actor, musical director and president at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild. His devotion to music includes his continued tour of duty as soloist/section leader at Presbyterian of Vero Beach, and performances as soloist with the st 1 Showcase and Vero Beach Opera Society, Treasure Coast Opera, Vero Beach Choral Society, and the Treasure Coast Choral. He may also be seen preforming daily as a state probation officer.
