Growth Communities
First Presbyterian Church
Growth Communities have been a growing and exciting part of the vitality of First Presbyterian Church for
over five years now. Over those years we have offered studies on popular books, serious books, books of
the Bible, and Christian living. Every study has sought to help you to grow in your faith. This year’s
Growth Community curriculum is built around that same principle. It is intended to help you grow in your
Christian faith.
The format of this years study, though, is quite different from what you have experienced in the past. In this
study you have been provided specific readings that are consistent with the sermons you will hear and the
topics you are to discuss. These scriptures are to be the soil out of which your fruitful discussion and
learning is to grow. The questions provided are to stimulate your thought, encourage self-reflection, and
promote application.
In addition, to learning, your Growth Community is also to be a place where you grow in fellowship, prayer,
care and outreach. These five principles – fellowship, education, prayer, care, and outreach – are contexts in
which will not only grow in faith but in which you will experience God’s grace.
